It's been almost a month, and I'm back in France for Part 2, and armed with a brand new camera!
I had an amazing time at home, getting to spend lots of time with friends and Family. It was really nice to be home, and now I'm back to my french Adventure!
I had an interesting day of traveling, and got the know the Brussels airport fairly intimately after 9 hours. But I got back to Lyon eventually (if a little later than expected....) to see..... TONS OF SNOW! It was like being back home! The airport had a ton of snow, and it had even been closed for the past few days. I was shocked to see all of the snow around Lyon, and the lyonnais people were even more shocked. Apparantly it only snows about once a year in Lyon normally, and then they only get a few centimeters if any. So this was quite a shock to them. (there wasn't as much as in Horseshoe, but definitely more snow than Toronto had at the time). But in true Lyon fashion, they had snow for a few days, then it rained, and it all melted away.... So i'm back to normal snowless Lyon now.
Since i've been back, i've written my last exam, and my last essay for Semester 1, and semester 2 officially starts on Monday the 18th.
I'm already back into the swing of things here, It feels like i've been back for months, not only a week! I've seen all my friends here, even gone on a little day trip to Grenoble on Saturday.
Within the first few days of being home, I had MANY "Welcome back to France" moments. Such as:
- the well dressed women
- the smoke constantly being blown in your face
- the SUPER crowded subways
and more that I cannot think of at the moment. But it felt nice to be back, Lyon is somewhere familiar to me now, and I feel comfortable here.
I feel as though this semester is going to go by even faster than last semester! Although that's a little more scary. The next time I pack up to go home, it will be for good. Which is a little scary. But I have LOTS of things to look forward to over the next few months!
Two of my best friends are coming to visit in February for a week, and Virginia and I will have our first taste of playing Tour Guide in this new city. We have a few trips planned, but the one i'm looking forward to the most is UK week! Which will happen in April, where we have a week off, then exam time, so our trip may turn into almost two weeks going around England, Scotland and Ireland. That will definitely be the highlight of this term.
I'll also be going skiing in the French Alps at the end of January, something else I'm really looking forward too! I'll let you know how it goes :)
Of course school will be happening through all that as well. I start on monday back into the swing of things. This semester i'll be taking:
16th century literature
19th
20th
19th (again).....
17th (again).....
Geography of France
French Grammar
French Culture
Bienvenue en France! (pour la deuxieme fois :) )
